Ancient Studies

 

The Master's programme Ancient Studies is open for application to students with:

A university Bachelor’s diploma

The Master’s programme Ancient Studies is open for application to students with a Bachelor’s diploma from the UvA or the VU, or a recognised equivalent from another accredited university in:

  • Greek and Latin language and culture
  • Latin language and culture
  • Ancient Studies (VU)
  • History*
  • Archaeology*

* Only if your Bachelor’s programme has adequately dealt with Mediterranean Archaeology and/or Ancient History. Except for scrutinising the content of your Bachelor’s, the Examinations Board will also consider your study results and reasons for wanting to participate.

The level of the Bachelor’s diploma from a foreign higher education institution must be equal to three years of Dutch university education (to be judged by the Examinations Board).

English language requirements

New Master's students should be able to speak, read, write and understand English at advanced academic level. Please carefully check whether you already meet the English language requirements or whether you may need to arrange to take an official English language test.
