Holocaust and Genocide Studies

The Master's in Holocaust and Genocide Studies is open for application to all students with:

A university Bachelor’s diploma

The Master's programme Holocaust and Genocide Studies is open for application to all students with a Bachelor’s diploma from the UvA or from another accredited university, in:

  • History
  • Cultural Anthropology
  • European Studies
  • Political Science
  • Psychology
  • Law
  • Sociology

Prospective students are advised to follow at least one of the Bachelor's courses provided by the Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies before deciding to follow the Master's programme Holocaust and Genocide Studies.

The level of the Bachelor's diploma from a foreign higher education institution must be equal to three years of Dutch university education (to be judged by the Examinations Board).

Selection procedure

Due to a limited amount of places prospective students are subject to a selection process. We will compare your file to that of other applicants. Distinguish yourself with solid academic in the field of study, good grades and a convincing letter of motivation.

English language requirements

New Master's students should be able to speak, read, write and understand English at advanced academic level. Please carefully check whether you already meet the English language requirements or whether you may need to arrange to take an official English language test.
