As of the academic year 2018-2019, the University of Amsterdam offers three one-year Master's in Theology and Religious Studies:

Religious Diversity in Europe

Europe’s cultural history is characterised by religious exchange, adaptations and conflict within a global context. In this Master's programme, you will explore past and present religious diversities within and beyond their European contexts.

Islam in the Modern World

The Master's in Islam in the Modern World offers you an in-depth interdisciplinary academic framework to engage with topics and debates concerning Islam and modernity, both in Europe and the Muslim world.

Western Esotericism

The Master's programme Western Esotericism puts you at the vanguard of a new and exciting development in the study of Western culture and religion by focusing on the critical historical and analytical study of its esoteric movements.

Religious Studies (research)

The Research Master’s in Religious Studies investigates religious plurality in a broad range of socio-cultural contexts and time periods, and offers you the unique opportunity to conduct in-depth research and learn from leading specialists in the field.
