This track is firmly rooted in academic research, but never loses sight of practice. What distinguishes Financial Management from the other tracks is its scope: you move across financial reporting, corporate finance, governance and AI-driven decision-making within a single programme. Courses likeāÆFinancial Statement Analysis & ValuationāÆandāÆCorporate Financial ManagementāÆbuild deep technical expertise, whileāÆBusiness Lab & Professional SkillsāÆputs that knowledge to work on real business challenges. You graduate as someone who understands the numbers and knows what to do with them.
Career preparation is built into the Financial Management track from the start. While building your academic foundation in financial reporting, corporate finance and governance, you simultaneously develop practical skills such as programming in Python, solving real-life cases from our partnering companies and applying data analytics. Through dedicated courses ināÆCorporate Financial Management,āÆAI in Financial Decision MakingāÆandāÆBusiness Lab & Professional Skills, you build the technical expertise and professional confidence that employers look for. That combination of breadth, depth and applied experience is what makes Financial Management graduates stand out.
The Financial Management track asks more of you than just technical mastery. You are expected to connect financial reporting to corporate strategy, understand how governance shapes decision-making, and evaluate where AI adds value, and where human judgement is still essential. That ability to think across disciplines, under time pressure, is challenging, and it is what prepares you for a career in finance.
If you have ambitions beyond the Masterās, the programme also provides a direct pathway to the Executive Master of Finance & Control (EMFC), a joint programme offered by the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and VU Amsterdam (VU). The EMFC is a part-time post-Master's programme that leads to the title ofāÆRegister Controller (RC). The EMFC is offered both in Dutch and in English.
